Abstract
This paper examines the theme of identity crisis in John Steinbeck's novel "The Winter of Our Discontent" through the lens of ecocriticism theory. The novel is set in the postmodern era and explores the moral decay of American society, particularly the loss of traditional values and the rise of materialism. Through the analysis of the novel, this paper explores the relationship between human identity and the natural world and how the destruction of the environment can lead to a crisis of identity. It starts with theoretical background, introduction, theory, discussion and analysis and ends with a conclusion. Keywords: Ecocriticism theory, John Steinbeck, materialism, identity crisis.
